Writing Prompt: Jane Austin
A romantic melodrama where the protagonist knows the plot and is sick and tired of the drama...
If I had a pound for every time someone read this novel, I’d be the richest woman in England. Jane Austin must be proud. Who am I you wonder? I’ll give you a hint. First name is Elizabeth or more commonly known as Lizzy and there’s a certain someone named Mr. Darcy in my life.
I’ve lived this book over and over again. The first twenty times were interesting, great even, but now. I wish all copies of Austin’s novel found their way into the rubbish bin. Maybe then I could finally live my life in peace rather than repeat a 18th century soap opera.
Mr. Darcy and I are happy by the way. We’re able to continue living our lives between each new read of the novel. I so wish we could cease with all the drama. I mean really, there’s only so many times I can say no to the poor man in such a cruel, heartbreaking way. Especially now that I know how he truly felt and the entirety of the situation.
Characters come to life you see, once the author writers us and readers read about us. All it takes is one read and viola, we’re brought into existence. It’s a secret us characters are never supposed to reveal. Problem is, I’m so over this novel, I’ll sing it to the heavens if it makes people stop reading our love story.
Please. I beg you.
*sigh* A girl can dream…
